Our Story
I am Gayasuddeen, the founder of IBADAH DESIGN. While today our brand stands as a global exporter of premium handicrafts, this journey is not just about me — it is about the hard work, dreams, and sacrifices of my father and grandfather.
Our story began in the early 1980s, when my grandfather, Mr. Fakhruddin, handcrafted buffalo horn combs with his own hands. At that time, there were no machines, no proper tools, and no transport facilities. He would sell his products only in the local market, while big suppliers with resources would take similar products to Delhi and sell them at better prices. My grandfather always dreamed of reaching bigger markets, but circumstances held him back.
He believed that education could open new doors, so he encouraged my father, Mr. Salahuddin, to study. After completing his schooling, my father joined my grandfather in the workshop and soon traveled to Delhi with their products. The response he received was encouraging, and this motivated him to explore new categories like metal, wood, resin, and mother of pearl. He even traveled to Nepal to source mother of pearl, expanded the workshop, employed artisans, and took the business to the next level.
But still, his dream of crossing borders and showcasing Indian artistry to the world remained unfulfilled.
At that time, I was pursuing a career in the medical field with the dream of becoming a doctor. Handicrafts were never my path — or so I thought. One day, while sitting with my grandfather, he shared his life story, the struggles, and the achievements of my father. He ended with a simple wish: “I only hope your father’s dream of taking our art overseas comes true someday.”
That sentence changed my life. I realized it was my turn to continue their legacy. I began researching exports, marketing, and international trade. Using social media and online platforms, I started reaching out to buyers. In 2016, I received my first export order from Hong Kong. It was small, but for me, it was huge — because when I saw the happiness in my father’s and grandfather’s eyes, I knew their dream was finally alive.
Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away soon after, but his teachings, blessings, and vision remain with me every day.
Our first company was launched under the name The Design Craft, but in 2022, I registered IBADAH DESIGN as a brand — a name that carries the passion, dedication, and respect I have for this journey.
Today, IBADAH DESIGN works with skilled artisans across India, creating and exporting handcrafted home décor, kitchenware, and furniture to international markets. Every piece we produce carries not only the art of India but also the dream of three generations.
This is more than a business — this is a legacy. And we invite you to be part of our journey, as together we take Indian craftsmanship to homes across the world.
